prophet on a hill
prophet on a hill
There is a Dragon over the land
breathing out fire
and we are at a loss
of how to stop the damage
Ashes falling, homes ruined,
lives scattered
and the bills will not be easily paid
There was a Keeper of the forest
who set the seedlings in place
and watched and cared for the land
He is gone now
Not likely to return
and the Dragon rules . . . rules
unto ruin
Stop the fires!
Bring the rain!
Why would Heaven hold out
when our need is so, so great?
Why, indeed?
Wind and confusion
carry our gods away
and we are left
holding straw
But there is One who
brings water and springs . . .
There is One who
causes the rivers to flow . . .
There is One who
can defeat the Dragon . . .
Call upon HIm
but not while your souls slumber
not in the midst of your sin
not while hating the Truth
and despising His Word
The Garden will return . . .
and the Master Gardener to tend it
when we have been made ready
“The poor and needy
search for water,
but there is none;
their tongues are parched with thirst.
But I the Lord will answer them;
I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.
I will make rivers flow on barren heights,
and springs within the valleys.
I will turn the desert into pools of water,
and the parched ground into springs.
I will put in the desert
the cedar and the acacia, the myrtle and the olive.
I will set junipers in the wasteland,
the fir and the cypress together,
so that people may see and know,
may consider and understand,
that the hand of the Lord has done this,
that the Holy One of Israel has created it.”
