the heart unyielding
the core of the mystery sought out
but the reward not yet gained

Light is shown upon the forces that battle
as the shadows grow
and the hour falls dark

It seems
reality shows the events playing
in minor scale
to the epic portrayed
or are we blind
and so lost to only hear the echo
of what is true

Unearth the bonds
liberate the captives
then tell us your story . . .

SCENE III

a mouse walked through a tunnel
it was dark and yet, the mouse knew where to go
he followed his nose
for the scent of what he wanted lay close
just beyond the next bend . . .
or was it the next . . .
or was it a little behind where he once was?
this little mouse went in circles
for his sensing mechanism was not working correctly
. . . and man walks through its tunnel
seeking, searching, thinking, reasoning, sniffing
and yet, happiness, success, freedom
is just beyond the next bend
or the next . . .
or was it where they already were?
man's sensing mechanism of what he needs
is not working entirely correctly
do you know why?
are man and mice alike?
were they formed differently?
does man, perhaps, live at a higher plane
and yet, there is little evidence of that, isn't there?
but can you, Mr. Night take man to a higher plane?
can you replace, enhance, rattle and reshape man's mechanism
for sensing what he needs
through your writing?
you know that you can
that is what this play is all about
you are to do what no one has been able to do before
but to do this you will
need . . .
