THE SHIP THAT SAILED

The ship
that sailed the ocean blue
was finely crafted, ornately decorated
and filled to the brim with sailors
The Captain of the ship, a fine fellow
led the passengers in hearty laughter
and benevolent praise
It was a ship that most would be proud of
There was singing, even teaching of goals and aspirations
There was the appreciation of nature
and the awe of the sea
The Captain rested each night peacefully
knowing / believing in his very soul
that he was doing all that was right and good
for the passengers
However; contrary to the Captain's beliefs
a storm arose at sea which threatened his life
and every life on board the ship
He quickly studied his ship manual
for lessons of safety and how to abort safely
It did not matter how much he studied now
the storm took over the ship
and in the end
there was nothing
absolutely
nothing

For you see, the Captain was a man
of the "easy way"
the comfortable type
who believed that the best
he could do for himself and all his passengers
was to make them
comfortable
not safe
not wise
not able to face the storms
and survive
but simply
comfortable
And face it, the passengers and the Captain
were comfortable
until
the storm came

What is this ship and who is it's Captain?
Why, it is the modern day church and its pastor
All to often, the sermons, the lessons, the prayers, the programs,
the plans are simply to make a comfortable place 
for the people to come
to meet with others who long for comfort
and to speak of their prowess
and comfort each other
~ ~ ~
FRIENDS, I AM GOING TO BLOW THESE SHIPS
OUT OF THE WATER
I WILL SPIT THEM FROM MY MOUTH
I WILL DESTROY
MEN, WOMEN, PASTOR, TEACHER, APOSTLE, PROPHET
WHO ONLY LONGS FOR COMFORT
AND NOT TRUTH
 I CAME
 I DIED
 I ROSE
TO CAUSE MY PEOPLE
TO LIVE IN EXTRAORDINARY POWER
TO OVERCOME THIS WORLD
ITS SINS
 ITS LAZINESS
 ITS APATHY
 ITS GREED
ITS DESIRE FOR COMFORT
ABOVE SERVICE

TAKE HEED
I DID IT TO THIS ONE CHURCH
I WILL DO IT TO ALL
READ
IF THERE IS STILL TIME
AND DISCOVER HOW
YOU MIGHT BE SAVED

 WITH MY PEOPLE OF PROMISE AND HOPE --
LIVING HOPE
"COME ABOARD," I WILL SAY WHEN IT IS TIME
AND WE WILL LAUNCH THIS SHIP AND ALL WILL KNOW THAT
I AM THE SHIP-MAKER
I AM THE KEEPER OF THE SHIPS
MY PEOPLE WILL TEACH OTHERS HOW TO BUILD SHIPS
AND ALL WILL BE AS I PLANNED FROM
THE BEGINNING . . .
