The Narrow Road

Have you ever really thought about the seriousness of how we live each day, what we choose, who and what we invest our time into, and the consequence of our true goals?  Every choice, every passion, is of eternal consequence.  Every day, we are living and dying for Jesus—or we aren’t.  Every day, we live like we believe—or we live in unbelief.

It has been much on my mind recently whether, when our time on earth is over and spent, many of us will truly stand as we expect before a Holy and Perfect God.  I don’t worry whether we will lose our rewards or miss out on treasures stored up.  No, I worry that we know not our true Reward and seek not the Treasure and will thus miss Jesus.  I worry we will not make it to Heaven.

What the Bible says about salvation is often different from what pastors and evangelists here in America tell us.  What the Bible says about salvation is not that we must pray once and merely verbally affirm its truths; but rather that we must obey God’s commandments, work out our salvation with fear and trembling, deny self, leave all, take up our cross, love God, live out this Truth daily.  No, we cannot justify ourselves, but we also cannot be justified if there is no evidence of sanctification.

In Matthew 7:13-14, Jesus tells us: “Enter through the narrow gate.  For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.  But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

Only a few find it.

Are you one of the few?

Therefore, since the promise of entering His rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it.  For we also have had the Gospel preached to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share in the faith of those who obeyed.
