Man Atop The High Tower

I saw him from a great distance
But did not know who he was
I saw him atop The High Tower
And knew that I may never know

He stood alone and observed
The comings and goings of man
He was given knowledge from Above
Of the heart conditions of the people
He was told of their deception
When all others saw was splendid effort
He was told of quiet heroic acts
When others judged as passive
He was given glimpses into Father God's Plans
But so often he held these to himself
For even though it was known and imagined
that the people of the land were intelligent,
They failed to have True Wisdom
From Above

Day after day
Night after night
I observed this man in the Watchtower
Not once was he absent from duty
Not once did he curse the ground
Where he was held
Even though no one ventured forth
close enough to see his heart

I thought this one day in mid July
That I should take a gift to this odd man
in The High Tower
And yet, how would I get it there?
He would not come down The High Tower
And I could not climb up

I thought of these things
As I ate a sandwich on the highest hill
I could find
Surely, I was closer now,
but not anywhere near
the height of The Tower

I left my place on the hill top
And began to venture down
When storm upon storm rose up
The way was slippery
My vision darkened
I became afraid, but kept it to myself

A long hearty slide
Is the last thing I remembered
Before I awoke to find my leg twisted
Where it used to be straight
No one knew where I was
I had no one to rescue me
I cried out now with a wail
Truly not all my own

And my eyes glanced toward
The High Tower
For there was quick movement
And I could see a hand raised up toward me
Strength returned to my leg
I rose slowly and surely
Ambling ever so gently back home

But I knew that day
That God appoints helpers
Many times unseen
And unreachable by human standards
To watch over the people
But I also knew in my heart
That they do more than help
These judges, representatives of God
Are also commissioned to uproot,
tear down, remove obstacles
In the way of those who walk with God
(Jeremiah 1:10)

So, I may not have been able
To give the man in The High Tower
A gift
But we connected
And I know his heart
And that it is good

A child came to me one day in passing
Through the countryside
And spoke of stories read to him
And his friends
By a lady from The High Tower
I questioned this little man unceasingly
Until I determined
That the man I thought I saw
Was actually a woman

I scoffed in my manly ignorance
And thought with my finite mind,
Why would such Authority be given to a woman?
And then I knew,
without continuing in logic,
She earned it
She fully, unequivocally earned it.

Never underestimate
the Sheer Power of God
To Resurrect all who call upon His Name
To do Great Exploits
In these times
for such is His Might and Wisdom
